Information on By-Law changes

The Proposal:

TO ALL ACTIVE IBEW LOCAL 94 MEMBERS:

In accordance with the IBEW Constitution and the by-laws of Local 94 this letter will serve as notice that there will be two changes proposed and acted on during the August and September Union Meetings.

1.) The first proposed change will be made to increase Officer and Steward monthly salary by $25.00. The following Offices will be proposed to increase by $25.00:
Vice-President   Executive Board Members including the Chairman
Financial Secretary  Chief Stewards
Recording Secretary  Shop Stewards
Treasurer
2.) The second proposed change will be made to modify the dues structure for the Line Clearance Tree Trimmers in the Local.  The proposal will be to modify the dues to a percentage amount (working dues) plus the International dues and the Local Union portion for the Benefits and  Social Fund. The working dues portion will be proposed at .6% of all wages instead of the one hours wage that is currently in place.

Information on By-Law change for Line Clearance Tree Trimmer Dues

The proposal:

Currently the Trimmers dues are the same as for all Utility members, one (1) hours pay each month and in addition two (2) dollars ($1 each for the Social and Benefits Funds) and the International per capita which is currently $11.

The By-law change is to only modify the one-hour pay portion of the current dues structure.  What is being proposed is that a percentage, in this case, 0.6%, which will be called the “Working Dues” portion, of all wages earned be paid in lieu of the one-hour payment.

The percentage of 0.6% is lower than any other set of Local Union By-laws that we have seen.  Typically they range from 1-3% of all wages and in addition the International dues and the “Basic Dues” (paid to the Local Union in all cases whether traveling or at home).

Attention: Presidents of Retirees Clubs

The IBEW Retirees of New Jersey have long had an established club, the New Jersey Retirees Advisory Council, open to all former active members of the New Jersey Building Trades Unions. We value those we have made important contributions to our labor movement and consider them too valuable to be disregarded. Therefore, we welcome the enlistment of retirees and their spouses from all New Jersey Building Trades Locals with the objectives of helping pensioners to enhance their lives, providing linkage with local unions, providing agendas favoring union interests both locally and nation-wide. And, of course, the social aspect of "shooting the breeze" with fellow members and guests over coffee and lunch at no cost to members and their spouses.
